A shielded network cable is a network cable with an additional shielding layer to reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure the stability and quality of signal tranSMission. According to the different shielding methods, shielded network cables are mainly divided into the following types:
一、STP(Shielded Twisted-Pair)
STP is independently shielded twisted pair, also known as shielded twisted pair. It is characterized by an independent aluminum foil shielding layer for each pair of wires to reduce signal attenuation and external electromagnetic interference. In addition, STP wraps a metal braided shielding layer on the outside of multiple wire pairs (usually 4 pairs). STP is suitable for high-speed network and high-confidentiality transmission, and can support the update of future applications. It is suitable for the environment where multiple media information is transmitted together.
二、FTP(Foil Twisted-Pair)
FTP is a twisted pair shielded by aluminum foil. This network cable wraps a layer of aluminum foil on the outer layer of the network cable. This layer of aluminum foil can effectively isolate the interference of external electromagnetic fields to the signal, but it has limited suppression of electromagnetic interference (crosstalk) between internal wire pairs. FTP has the advantages of large bandwidth, certain anti-interference ability, and reduced signal attenuation.
三、SFTP(Shielded Foil Twisted-Pair)
SFTP is double shielded twisted pair, which adds a layer of braided mesh shielding layer on the basis of STP, usually using aluminum-magnesium wire braided mesh or tinned copper mesh, and the outer layer is PVC outer quilt. SFTP has two shielding layers, and there must be insulation isolation between the two shielding layers. This design effectively reduces the ambient magnetic field and signal interference, and the degree of internal signal attenuation is also low. However, SFTP is relatively soft and expensive, so it is suitable for professional wiring projects in special environments.
IV. Other types
In addition to the three main types of shielded network cables mentioned above, there are also other types of shielded network cables, such as:
F/UTP: The total shielding layer is aluminum foil shielding, and there is no shielding twisted pair of wire shielding layers.
U/FTP: There is no total shielding layer, and the wire pair shielding is shielded twisted pair shielded by aluminum foil.
SF/UTP: The total shielding layer is double shielding of aluminum foil + copper wire mesh, and the wire pair is double shielded twisted pair without shielding.
These network cable types have their own characteristics in shielding methods and are suitable for different network environments and transmission requirements.
Fifth, the characteristics of shielded network cables
Strong anti-interference ability: Shielded network cables can reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure the stability and integrity of signal transmission.
High security and confidentiality: The shielding layer can prevent data from being eavesdropped and improve the security of data transmission.
Adapt to complex environments: In environments with strong interference and severe electromagnetic radiation, shielded network cables can maintain stable transmission performance.
Application scenarios for shielding network cables
The shielded network cable is mainly used in applications with high transmission quality requirements, such as finance, government and other fields with high data security requirements. At the same time, in environments with serious electromagnetic interference or high confidentiality transmission, the shielded network cable is also an ideal choice.
To sum up, there are many types of shielded network cables, each of which has its own unique characteristics and application scenarios. When choosing a shielded network cable, it is necessary to determine the appropriate type according to the specific network environment and transmission requirements.
