The connection process of the armored optical fiber line (also known as armored pigtail or armored optical cable joint) joint needs to follow certain steps and precautions. The following is the specific connection method:

1. Preparation work

Tools and materials: prepare optical fiber stripping pliers, optical fiber cutter (or optical fiber cutter), optical fiber fusion splicer (or optical fiber cold splicer and corresponding tools), detergent, alcohol, protective sleeve, etc.

Check the optical fiber: Make sure the optical fiber to be connected is intact to avoid affecting the performance of the wiring.

2. Stripping and cleaning

Strip the outer skin of the optical fiber: Use optical fiber stripping pliers to strip the outer skin of the optical fiber to be connected to expose the fiber core. Be careful not to damage the fiber core when stripping.

Cleaning the optical fiber: Gently wipe the surface of the optical fiber with cleaning paper or a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to remove dust and impurities and ensure that the surface of the optical fiber is clean.

3. Optical fiber cutting and fusion (or cold splicing)

Optical fiber cutting: Use an optical fiber cutter to cut the optical fiber into a suitable length and ensure that the cut surface is flat and burr-free.

Fiber fusion splicing:

Insert the fiber head into the fusion splicer and perform fusion splicing according to the operating instructions of the fusion splicer.

Be patient and careful during the fusion splicing process to avoid damage to the fiber head.

After the fusion splicing is completed, check whether the fusion splice is firm and free of bubbles.

Fiber cold splicing (if cold splicing is used):

Insert the fiber into the fiber cold splicer and turn on the switch of the cold splicer.

Gently push the fiber into the bottom of the cold splicer until the fiber bends slightly, indicating that it has reached the bottom.

Turn off the switch of the cold splicer and tighten the tail cap.

IV. Add protective sleeve

Install the protective sleeve: Add a protective sleeve at the fusion splice or cold splice to prevent dust and other impurities from entering the fiber core.

Fix the protective sleeve: Make sure the length of the protective sleeve is appropriate, which can protect the fiber core and does not affect the use of the connector. Tighten the pull ring of the protective sleeve (if any) to fix it tightly on the fiber core.

5. Inspection and testing

Check the connector: Check carefully whether the connector is firm, loose or damaged.

Test performance: Use optical power meter or OTDR and other equipment to test the performance of the fiber connector to ensure that indicators such as tranSMission loss and dispersion meet the requirements.

6. Precautions

Avoid excessive stretching or compression of the fiber: During the wiring process, try to avoid excessive stretching or compression of the fiber to avoid damage to the fiber.

Keep clean: During the entire connector connection process, keep the fiber and connector clean to avoid dust and impurities.

Use professional tools: Make sure to use professional fiber tools and materials to operate to improve the quality and stability of the connector.

In summary, the connection process of the armored fiber optic cable connector requires careful operation, following steps and precautions. Correct connector connection can ensure the stability and reliability of optical fiber transmission.
